WALL

WALL

The west side of the reservoir has been reinforced with bricks dating back to the colonial period when bricks were still handmade. The rough finishing and edges are evidence that the bricks were not made with modern methods.

PLATFORM

PLATFORM

The east side of the reservoir has a platform extension from the dam made of bricks and parts of it were finished with coarse stones. The platform base was made with bricks stamped with the word “Jurong” on them, indicating that the bricks were manufactured by the Jurong Brickworks (established in 1934). The platform has a concrete sill with a very coarse stone finishing. This platform is most likely added to the dam when the reservoir was a swimming pool(allow bathers easier access pool)

DIVING BOARD

DIVING BOARD

A feature which must have been used in the past when the reservoir was still a swimming pool.

DAM

DAM

The reservoir has a dam at the southern end made with bricks and concrete. The west side of the dam features a set of stairs that lead to the bottom of the dam. The dam is a least 2m deep. To the east of the dam wall is a chute spillway whose sides and bottom were lined with concrete. The slope of the spillway was finished with coarse stones, and this is likely to be the filter bed mentioned above in the 1944 British description of the reservoir. The first two filter beds are clearly visible
